Integration management

Integration management deals with the living situation of people with a migration background. Every person in Germany should be granted the same opportunities to develop their personality.

Integration management thus encompasses topics from all areas of life and includes all people - it is a classic cross-sectional task for society as a whole. Integration begins with the possibility of successful participation in central areas of social life.

In this context, granting equal opportunities means creating framework conditions that offer low-threshold access to social and political participation. In this sense, the tasks of integration are classic cross-sectional tasks and part of the integrated social planning of the district. Consequently, many of the concerns of integration management are also reflected in the district's family support, education management and poverty prevention.

The "Political Guidelines for Integration in the Altenburger Land District (pLILA)" describe this complex task in eight fields of action:

  • Intercultural opening
  • Language
  • Education
  • Work
  • Housing
  • Sport and culture
  • Social Integration
  • Health

The manifold tasks arising from the fields of action of the "Political Guidelines for Integration in the Altenburger Land District (pLILA)" can only be successfully implemented together with all actors of the broad-based integrative networks of civil society.

Together with the advisory council for migration and integration, the goals and measures of integration work in the district are discussed, coordinated and further developed in a broad participation process.

Municipal integration management is thus at the same time a process, a function and a goal, and it starts where integration takes place: at the local level; this is where integration is concretely shaped and lived - within the legal framework defined by the federal and state governments through their legislation. The goal of integration management is to find a common, coordinated approach with all actors that takes into account the interests of the district.

This results in the following tasks for integration management:

  • Participation in the updating of the municipal integration concept
  • Advising and supporting the actors at independent organisations and authorities
  • Initiation of concepts
  • Coordinating projects, events and measures
  • Participation in educational, further training and public relations work
  • Further development and maintenance of the integration network
  • Organisation, coordination and participation in committees

The position of integration manager is supported by the Free State of Thuringia (ThILIK program) and the European Social Fund Plus.
